Another attempt at a Red-throated Diver shot on Saturday 3rd. January 2009

Went again to Draycote Water on Saturday morning with one aim in mind to get a shot of the Red-throated Diver which I had failed to do so far.

Met up with Jeff in the carpark in bitterly cold conditions and we set off for the Draycote Bank where it had been seen previously however as soon as we got to the the spot where the wall starts on the Hensborough Bank  we met up with Richard Mays who had the Diver in his scope allbeit several hundred yards away near the Valve Tower.

What happened next was quite amazing because of all the places it could have gone to it headed straight for us and after 15 minutes it came as close as 25 metres away. What a cracking looking bird. All was not perfect though because when it popped up so close it caught me unawares and I only got the camera on it when it was heading away and diving.Still I am not complaining I did get some half decent shots.
