A very cold visit to Brandon Marsh.

Despite the bitter cold conditions this fair weather birder braved the frost and went to Brandon Marsh on Tuesday morning.

Luckily a few mates were there and the chat kept us warm.Birdwise it was very quiet the only interesting spots were a female Goldeneye from the Baldwin hide and a Water Rail in front of the East Marsh hide and a couple of KF fly-byes.The Carlton hide was no good at all being iced over and a working party near by burning rubbish.

As Kath and I were walking back to the centre we were told that a couple of Bitterns were showing well on the West Pool.We raced over there only to be told that they had both disappeared into the reeds but worst of all a photographer showed us some very good shots of what we had just missed!!!! Is there anything worse than that? We waited patiently for ages but neither showed.

No pics I'm afraid. No decent shots taken.
