Two Local Trips.

Monday afternoon I nipped across to Marsh Lane.It was a little dull and a cool wind was blowing.

I think I got a shot of the White Wagtail that had been seen in front of the car park hide but I,m not sure. Here it is.What do you think?

Saw my first Green Sandpiper of the year but before I could get some decent shots it flew off.

There were a few Yellowhammers and a lone Yellow Wagtail near the car park hide.

Tuesday morning I went over to Brandon Marsh. As I was walking past the wind pump in fine weather thinking what a good choice I'd made coming here when a text arrived saying "7 Ruff and 2 Hobbies at Marsh Lane".Damn it wrong choice!!!!!

Saw my first Whitethroat of the year but couldn't get a decent shot as it was a bit distant.

Did spot this Canada Goose who had not attended an egg management course.

Most of the rest of the day was taken up by complete failures to get shots of my target birds : Cetti's Warbler and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. The Cetti's showed well but were far too quick for me and the Lesser Spotted Woodpecker showed a couple of times for others but not for me.

The only other shots I got were of a Treecreeper and a Chiffchaff.

Hi Max,
I think your White Wag is probably a female Pied based on the blotchy back which also doesn't look pale enough for White Wag. (There's a good picture of a White Wag on Keith Yates' "Birding Afloat" blog).
