A VERY QUIET LOCAL PATCH.

Both yesterday and today both pools at Marsh Lane were very quiet literally very quiet the reason being the 700+ BH Gulls (and the 2 Med Gulls) usually there screeching out had gone missing. It was like walking round a ghost reserve. There were only a handful on the CP pool and all of them were on the water and none at all on the RW pool.Very strange.

There were other birds about of course but it was eerily quiet. The Ringed Plover was on the RW Pool. There were at least 6 Oystercatchers and upto 7 Redshanks about.A few Chiffchaffs were calling.A Jack Snipe was close by in the marsh but as usual was well hidden.

The Brewers Duck was back again today.

In pretty poor light a Common Buzzard came into range and I managed a few shots

Not a good shot of a Redshank but a keeper as it is ringed. 3 Yellow/orange on one leg and a metal one and another yellow/orange on the other leg.

Had another go at getting a shot of one of the dozen Sand Martins flying round the CP pool with very mixed results.

On the CP pool there were 3 Goosanders including a male on one of the islands.
